As the deadline for when businesses need to use the UKCA mark has been extended, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy has updated a number of its guidance documents. The Office for Product Safety and Standards has updated its statutory guidance.

The Government is to continue to recognise the CE product marking in Great Britain for a further 2 years until 31 December 2024. Businesses can also use the UKCA marking, giving them flexibility to choose which marking to apply; either UKCA or CE markings.

Businesses have been able to use the UKCA mark since 1 January 2021 to demonstrate their conformity with product standards in England, Scotland and Wales.

Under the terms of the Protocol, Northern Ireland will continue to recognise the CE marking for goods placed on the market in Northern Ireland. They will need to use the UKNI marking if they use a UK Conformity Assessment Body to test their products.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards updated its statutory guidance on 17 November 2022 to reflect the further extension of the transition period for UKCA marking.
