The publication of this list provides employers and the public with increased guidance on which disinfectants can be used to clean surfaces and other objects where SARS-CoV-2 might be present.
The disinfectants on List N have qualified under EPA’s emerging viral pathogen program for permissible labeling claims. The emerging viral pathogen program offers a streamlined process that allows manufacturers of EPA-registered disinfectants to label their products as effective against SARS-CoV-2.
Pesticides, including disinfectant products, are regulated under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). FIFRA requires regulated products to be tested, approved, registered, and properly labeled.
