Over this week, the health protection legislation expands to give authorities rights to regulate coronavirus. The main changes include:
  • Self-isolation requirements in relation to persons who have tested positive for coronavirus and their contacts. Specific requirement on employers of workers to self-isolate.
  • The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (Obligations of Undertakings) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 (SI 2020/1046) expands regulating scope from only hospitality undertakings to all the general undertakings.
  • More areas in England and Wales are designated as local health protection areas and are subject to specific restrictions and requirements.
