The Environment Agency published guidance on Storing and treating waste plastic produced from processing WEEE regarding RPS 228 on 23 December 2019. This guidance is for businesses when they can store and treat waste plastic produced from processing waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) without the correct waste codes on their permits. This RPS (regulatory position statement) will be withdrawn on 31 July 2020. If you comply with the conditions in this RPS, you can continue to receive, store and process these wastes, using physical separation techniques, without the correct codes on your permit. You may still need other permits or licences for other activities you carry out. The Contents of this RPS contains:

This RPS only applies if:

your permit authorises you to store and treat plastic casings from display equipment and plastic-based fraction from shredding small mixed WEEE under waste code 19 12 04
you submit a suitable application to vary your permit to include 16 02 15, 16 02 16 and/or 19 02 04 by 31 January 2020, and you progress your application without undue delay
your application has not been determined or returned to you as not duly made
