UK | COVID-19: HSE Guidance For Reporting Covid-19 Under RIDDOR

RIDDOR
The HSE provided updated guidance on reporting of Covid-19 cases in the Workplace under RIDDOR (The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013) on November 2 2020.
With the new restrictions coming into force this week, the HSE has provided more definite guidance on when to report Covid-19 occurrences in the workplace.
There are only 3 scenarios in which the ‘responsible person’ must report under RIDDOR
  1. As a Dangerous Occurrence, if an incident or accident at work has or may have released covid-19 virus
  2. As a Case of Disease, if a worker has been diagnosed with Covid from occupational exposure.
  3. As a work-related death due to exposure to a biological agent, if a worker dies as a result of an occupational exposure
At this time there is no need to report members of the public or non-work-related cases.
