OSHA requires employers to record the use of kinesiology tape [US]

On December 12, 2014 the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) issued a letter of interpretation regarding the recordkeeping and reporting requirements for the use of kinesiology tape.

OSHA considers the use of kinesiology tape to be medical treatment

OSHA consulted with its physicians and determined that kinesiology taping is used to relieve pain through physical and neurological mechanisms, similar to physical therapy. Therefore, OSHA considers the use of kinesiology tape for work-related injuries or illnesses to be medical treatment, not first aid, which must be recorded on the OSHA 300 Log.
