This process not only fulfils a legal obligation, but also the need of your employees to have a safe and healthy work environment.

1. What is an EHS risk assessment?
An occupational risk assessment involves identifying, analyzing and prioritizing health and safety risks and prescribing preventive measures. To conduct a risk analysis, you must first gather all data related to potential workplace hazards and prioritize them according to your chosen methodology.


2. Occupational risks
Occupational risks concern your employees and service providers first and foremost. There are numerous examples of the impact that an improper process or action can have on your teams.

You must consider:

– The work environment: brightness, working posture, equipment quality, noise pollution etc.
– The machines utilized by your teams: are they safe? Are the emergency procedures up to code? Are your teams sufficiently equipped?

3. How do you assess EHS risks?
As part of an EHS risk assessment, you must measure the impact of potential hazards and their likelihood of occurring.

3.1. Launch your EHS risk management project
Inform your teams, organize your project and define your objectives. It is important that you choose a referent for this analysis to ensure a comprehensive and clear vision of the risks present.

3.2. Highlight potential dangers
Record all identifiable risks in your risk management tool. Whether they are related to working hours, the use of dangerous products or specific actions, identify them as hazards and highlight the possible consequences for employees.

3.3. Prioritize your risks
The software uses data from previous incidents in combination with your chosen methodology, to provide you with a hazard ranking. If you do not have a proven methodology, ask your EHS partner to recommend one, taking your processes into consideration.

3.4. Plan corrective and preventive action
The risk classification established by the software offers a basis for defining a preventive action plan. Plan a schedule of corrective actions with your team. This may involve labeling dangerous products, adding information panels to machines or the installation of new equipment.

Your occupational risk assessment must be monitored and updated regularly to ensure continued occupational health and safety compliance and to maintain your prevention plan within the platform.
