On 19 May 2020, the Fourth Regulation for Protection against New Infections with the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (Fourth Corona Regulation) of 19 May 2020 was published in the Law Gazette of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen No. 39. The Fourth Corona Ordinance contains, among other things, requirements for the wearing of mouth-nose covers for certain industries as well as regulations for the preparation of operational protection and hygiene concepts.

On 13 May 2020, the First ordinance of the State Government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania amending the ordinance for permanent protection against the novel corona virus in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania of 13 May 2020 was published in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Law and Ordinance Gazette No. 28. Among other things, the amendment regulates special protective measures for accommodation establishments, such as the creation of an institution-related hygiene and safety concept and the obligation to wear mouth-nose covers.

In a press release of 20 May 2020, the German Social Accident Insurance refers to information from the IFA on the difference between pandemic and conventional respiratory protection. This distinction is particularly important in order to avoid misuse – because, unlike conventional respiratory protection, corona pandemic breathing masks (CPA) of this type have only a limited protective effect.

On 20 May 2020, the “Second Regulation amending the Corona Protection Regulation of 8 May 2020” of 20 May 2020 was published in the Law Gazette No. 17f for North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition to minor adjustments, the annex is also revised, which provides clear hygiene and infection protection standards for certain businesses and institutions, such as the catering trade, hairdressing and accommodation facilities.

In many cases, this contains adaptations and relaxations, for example with regard to establishments and facilities that are allowed to resume operations in compliance with certain hygiene standards.
