US Department of Labor Adjusts Civil Monetary Penalties for Inflation

In the January 23, 2019 edition of the Federal Register, the US Department of Labor published its final rule to adjust for inflation the civil monetary penalties assessed or enforced by the Department. Importantly, this impacts OSHA’s penalties found in 29 CFR 1903.15, resulting in increases to each category of penalties. The rule is effective immediately.
