Public Comment Period Extended for Proposed Waste Regulations [US]

On November 5th, 2015, the Environmental Protection Agency announced in the Federal Register that it is extending the public comment period for two major proposed rules involving hazardous waste regulations under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).

Proposed changes

The proposed generator rules would make major structural changes to the regulations and would allow generators greater flexibility in managing their hazardous waste. In addition, they would prohibit healthcare facilities from disposing pharmaceutical products down the sink or drain.

The proposed rules were published on September 25th, 2015 with a public comment period end-date of November 24th, 2015. This deadline has been extended until December 24th, 2015.

Written comments may be submitted online to the Federal eRulemaking Portal at http://www.regulations.gov.
