HSE annual work-related ill health and injury statistics 2022/23
The key figures for Great Britain (2022/23) include:135 workers were killed in work related accidents; 1.8 million workers suffered from work-related ill health; Almost half of those (875,000) were suffering work-related stress, depression or anxiety; 500,000 people suffered from work-related musculoskeletal disorders; 60,645 work-related non-fatal injuries were reported; 12,000 estimated lung disease deaths linked to past exposures at work and 2,268 mesothelioma deaths; 35.2 million lost days due to work-related ill-health or non-fatal workplace injury.The human health/social work industry has the highest rate of work-related ill health, whereas agriculture, forestry and fishing has the highest rate of workplace non-fatal injuries. When comparing with other European countries, the UK has one of the lowest fatal injury rates.The full report can be accessed here.
