UK | COVID-19: HSE Guidance For Reporting Covid-19 Under RIDDOR

With the new restrictions coming into force this week, the HSE has provided more definite guidance on when to report Covid-19 occurrences in the workplace.

There are only 3 scenarios in which the ‘responsible person’ must report under RIDDOR

1. As a Dangerous Occurrence, if an incident or accident at work has or may have released covid-19 virus
2. As a Case of Disease, if a worker has been diagnosed with Covid from occupational exposure.
3. As a work-related death due to exposure to a biological agent, if a worker dies as a result of an occupational exposure

At this time there is no need to report members of the public or non-work-related cases. As a Reminder, the new local measure has been put in place in most of the UK, if you are in England, these measures take effect on Thursday 5 November 2020.
