California Senate Passes Bill on Workplace Violence Prevention Plans

On October 2, 2023, on the California Legislative website, the California Senate passed a bill relating to occupational safety. The bill amends Section 6401.7 of and adds Section 6401.9 to the Labor Code, requiring employers to establish, implement, and maintain a workplace violence prevention plan containing specified information. The employer must also train employees on the plan and when changes are made to the plan. The law is in effect on July 1, 2024.
