On July 27, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its guidance for fully vaccinated people due to the new findings on the Delta variant.
The CDC now recommends that fully vaccinated people:
- Wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission.
- Consider wearing a mask regardless of transmission level if they are immunocompromised or at increased risk for severe disease. They should also consider wearing a mask if a household member is immunocompromised, at increased risk of severe disease, or not fully vaccinated.
- Be tested 3 to 5 days after being exposed to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. They should also wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days or until they receive a negative test result.
