On November 24, 2017, a final rule was published in the Federal Register in which the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) extended the deadline for the first required electronic submission of workplace injury and illness data to December 15, 2017. OSHA proposed, in June, to extend the deadline from July 1, 2017 to December 1, 2017 because the launch of OSHA’s Injury Tracking Application (ITA) was pushed back to August 1, 2017. An additional two weeks have been added to the deadline extension because the ITA was down for two weeks in August due to concerns that data might have been compromised. Therefore, covered establishmetns have until December 15, 2017 to submit the required 2016 workplace injuries and illnesses data electronically via the ITA. Establishments with 250 or more employees that are currently required to keep OSHA injury and illness records must electronically submit the data contained within the following three forms:- OSHA Form 300 (Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses),
- OSHA Form 300A (Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses), and
- OSHA Form 301 (Injury and Illness Incident Report).
