A consultation has been opened, involving whether or not the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs should set a compliance fees for 2016.
DEFRA has opened a consultation involving whether or not it should set a compliance fee relating to waste electrical and electrical equipment for 2016. It is also inviting stakeholder viewpoints on how the fee should be managed. The compliance fees relates to companies who do not meet their annual collection targets and can comply by paying this fee.
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulation 2013 established a system whereby producers are required to finance the cost of collect, treatment, recovery and recycling from WEEE arising’s from private households. The consultation opens 19th October 2016 and closes 25th November 2016.
