New OSHA Site Specific Targeting Plan Goes Into Effect

Occupational_Safety
On October 16, 2018 OSHA’s Site Specific Targeting (SST) Plan for 2018 went into effect. The SST is OSHA’s main method of scheduling programmed comprehensive inspections for non-construction employers with 20 or more employees. Establishments will be selected for the SST list if they have an undefined “elevated” Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART) Rate. OSHA will then use this list to determine, which sites qualify for inspections within this program. Unlike prior versions, the new SST Plan utilizes the 2016 300A data that many employers electronically submitted in December 2017. State OSHA Plans are required to have their own inspection procedure and must submit notice within 60 days of their intention to either adopt the SST or already have in place a targeting plan.
