Notice on Carriage of dangerous goods (UK)

Carriage of dangerous goods

The Department of Transport has updated on 17th January 2017 the Notice on Carriage of dangerous goods exception notice 30. This notice contains a provision to the carriage of dangerous goods regulations concerning suppressor valve head assemblies used in explosion protection systems.

Under the carriage regulations, the competent authority (the Department for Transport) can make various provisions to the dangerous goods regulations, including recognising certain standards. These miscellaneous provisions are made through an exception notice.

Currently there is no standard listed in Regulations Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail / European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road which expressly specifies suppressor valve head assemblies designed for use in explosion protection systems. Consequently, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 6.2.5 of Regulations Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail / European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road, the GB competent authority recognises technical code BR 30, dated June 2015 for the construction and transport of suppressor valve head assemblies for use in explosion protection systems.

This exception notice has immediate effect and shall remain in force until 31 December 2018 unless otherwise revised or withdrawn.

For further details consult the official notice document.
