REACH: updated list of titles and references of harmonized standards concerning restrictions for nickel [EU]

On 15 January 2016, the European Commission (EC) published the updated list of titles and references of harmonized standards under entry 27 (concerning nickel) in Annex XVII to the REACH Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2008) concerning restrictions on the manufacture, placing on the market and use of certain dangerous substances and certain dangerous mixtures and articles.

These standards relate in particular to the reference test method on the release of nickel from those parts of spectacle frames and sunglasses intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with skin.

As a reminder, the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/9 of 5 January 2016 establishes rules to facilitate the use of data sharing system between registrants, as part of the registration of chemical substances under the REACH Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 concerning the registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals, and Restriction of Chemicals). The Regulation mainly specifies the rules to ensure a fair, transparent and non-discriminatory distribution of the costs of sharing and joint submission of information among registrants.
