Missouri Proposes Amended Hazardous Waste Fee Schedule [US]

After conducting a review of the hazardous waste fee structure, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources is proposing to amend 10 CSR 25-12.010 of the state’s Hazardous Waste Fees and Tax regulations. This proposed rule would amend the purpose statement and authority sections, which apply to hazardous waste generators and treatment, storage, and disposal facilities in Missouri.

What are bringing these modifications?

The proposed amendments reflect the increased fees agreed by the Missouri Hazardous Waste Management Commission’s hazardous waste fee stakeholder workgroup. Specifically, the new rule would increase the hazardous waste generator registration and renewal fee; the in-state fee for hazardous waste generated in Missouri; the minimum and maximum amounts of the in-state fee; and the land disposal fee for hazardous waste disposed in Missouri. These changes are expected to generate an additional $502,165 in revenue annually for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Hazardous Waste Fund.

The Missouri Hazardous Waste Management Commission will hold a public hearing regarding the proposed revised fee schedule on August 20, 2015 at Elm Street Conference Center, 1738 East Elm Street, Jefferson City, Missouri. Written comments may be emailed to tim.eiken@dnr.mo.gov or mailed to PO Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176.
