Modification of the Law on batteries and accumulators under way – call for opinions [DE]

In a press release of 7 August 2014 the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) notifies that it has submitted a draft text aiming to amend the law on batteries and accumulators (BattG) of 25 July 2009.

The draft intends to transpose Directive 2013/56/EU of 20 November 2013 amending Batteries Directive 2006/66/EC  regarding the placing on the market of portable batteries and accumulators containing cadmium intended for use in cordless power tools and of button cells with low mercury content, further repealing Commission Decision 2009/603/EC. It also contains clarifications.

The draft text is open to opinions or suggestions of modifications which may be submitted per email to the Environment Ministry (WRII3@bmub.bund.de) up to 12 September 2014.
