Public consultation for the review and further development of the Europe 2020 strategy [EU]

On 5 May 2014, the European Commission (EC) launched public consultations on the Europe 2020 strategy, with the purpose to inform the review of the Europe 2020 strategy and gather views on its further development. The consultation will be open until 31 October 2014.

The EC will analyse and process the replies received and will make proposals for the further development of the strategy in early 2015, based on the outcome of the consultation.

As a reminder, in a resolution adopted on 5 February 2014, the European Parliament (EP) called on the EC and the European Union (EU) countries to set a 2030 EU target to reduce domestic greenhouse gas emissions by 40% from 1990 levels and to produce 30% of total final energy consumption from renewable energy sources. The EP also considered that an energy efficiency target of 40% should be established.
