The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has published the Consultation outcome ‘Climate Change Survey Consultation’ on its webpage on 24 February 2016.
The consultation was seeking views on how businesses in the UK may or may not have been adapting to climate change and whether a survey of this would prove fruitful.
The consultation questionnaire covered a range of climate change topics including:
- The impact for weather related events.
- Risks and opportunities relating to current and future changes in climate.
- Income from adaptation goods and services related to changes in climate.
The ONS received over 20 responses and commented that it had become evident businesses may have difficulty in providing the information requested by the questionnaire and in particular the quantified data.
The ONS has concluded on the basis of previous feasibility reports and the responses of this consultation that there is no commitment by the ONS or DEFRA to undertake a survey as presented in the consultation.
