OSHA and DOT to Hold Public Meetings on June 20 to Prepare for July UN Sub-Committee Sessions

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) published a notice in the Federal Register on May 31, 2017 to publicize a public meeting it will hold on June 20, 2017 to prepare for an upcoming UN meeting that will address the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. The Department of Transportation (DOT)’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) will also conduct a public meeting on June 20, 2017 in anticipation of a separate upcoming UN meeting. PHMSA is seeking public input on the 21st Revised Edition of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods Model Regulations, and is also hoping to receive comments pertaining to potential new work items that the agency may seek to include in its international agenda. OSHA intends to discuss proposals at its public meeting in preparation for the upcoming 33rd session of the UN Sub-Committee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (UNSCEGHS) that will be held July 10-12, 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland, while PHMSA intends to discuss proposals at its public meeting in preparation for the 51st session of the UN Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UNSCETDG) that will be held July 3-7, 2017 in Geneva.
