U.S. EPA Extends Comment Period on Two Proposed Rules Covering Trichloroethylene (TCE)

On February 15, 2017 U.S. EPA extended the comment periods on two proposed rules prohibiting the manufacturing (including importation), processing and distribution in commerce of trichloroethylene (TCE) for us in aerosol degreasing, spot cleaning in dry cleaning facilities, and in vapor decreasing. The first rule proposal, covering the use of TCE in dry cleaning facilities, was issued on December 16, 2016 (81 FR 91592) and its comment period is extended to March 16, 2017. The second proposal, covering vapor degreasing, was issued on January 19, 2017 (82 FR 7432) and its comment period is delayed to April 19, 2017.
