[EU] Launch of public consultations on the harmonisation of carbon footprinting

Carbon footprinting represents a method for generating data on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of transport operations.

The final aim of the consultation is to contribute to the development of harmonised carbon footprinting measures for freight and passenger transport services in Europe.

As a reminder, on 11 February 2014 the Council of the European Union (EU) adopted a proposal for a Regulation amending Regulation (EU) No 510/2011 of 11 May 2011 setting emission performance standards for new light commercial vehicles as part of the EU’s integrated approach to reduce CO2 emissions from light-duty vehicles. The amendments aim to define the modalities for reaching the 2020 target to reduce CO2 emissions from new light commercial vehicles.
