Austria: government bill for an amendment to the Renewable Heating Act
On 18 October 2023, the Austrian government published a bill for the provision of renewable heat in new buildings (“Erneuerbare-Wärme-Gesetz” or EWG) in the RIS Legal Information System. As this is a government bill, the regulations are not in force. The amendment is intended to effectively prevent the supply to new buildings of heat produced from fossil fuels (thus reducing CO2 emissions from systems that produce and supply heat to new buildings). The planned amendment mainly includes a ban on the supply to new buildings of heat produced from fossil fuels.
