[UK] Renewables obligation ends early for large solar pv stations
The Renewables Obligation Closure (Amendment) Order 2015 amends the Renewables Obligation Closure Order 2014. It applies to the UK and came into force on 24 March 2015. The purpose of the Amendment Order is to end the application of the renewables obligation to solar pv generating stations with a generating capacity of over 5 megawatts.
Renewable energy : introduction of new definitions
The 2015 Amendment Order introduces new definitions, including ‘large solar pv station’, a generating station that generates electricity from sunlight and has a renewable output (RO) capacity of more than 5 megawatts.
Explanatory memorandum and impact assessment for the 2015
New articles inserted into the 2014 Closure Order both stop the issue of renewables obligation certificates (ROCs) for electricity generated by large solar pv stations after the solar pv closure date of 31 March 2015 and set out a number of exceptions to this restriction, including where the original capacity is used or the additional capacity had already been accredited with documents supplied to the appropriate authority.
