3 Energy efficiency targets imposed on suppliers

The targets are:
  • 1. the carbon emissions reduction target (12.4 MtCO2);
  • 2. the carbon saving community target (6 MtCO2); and
  • 3. the home heating cost reduction target (£3.7bn cost savings).

To achieve the targets, suppliers must promote ‘carbon qualifying actions‘, ‘carbon saving community qualifying actions‘ and ‘heating qualifying actions. These actions are detailed in articles 12, 14 and 16 respectively. The aim is to reduce carbon emissions, to achieve carbon savings and to save on the costs of heating. Each supplier’s obligations are calculated based on furmulae given in the regulations.
