Water management: abstract or impound water

“Water management: abstract or impound water” guidance has been amended, relating to the application of licenses. The original guidance was published by the Environment Agency on 8th May 2014, updated 1st August 2016. Guidance on the application of licenses, relating to “Water management: abstract or impound water”, has had text corrected. This refers to structures used for water abstraction or impoundment (e.g. dams, weirs, lock gates). Water-management The text corrects those structures or actions that will not normally require a license application, including:
  • Refurbishing a sluice
  • Re-pointing
  • Repairs
  • Void filling
  • Managing vegetation
  • De-silting
  • Re-positioning
  • Replacing elements that do not contribute to phased replacement of the whole structure
  • Re-facing
  • Skimming/covering
  • Blockage removal
  • Embankment grouting
