EPA: a New Test Methods and Regulations for Air Emission Sources? [US]

On September 8th, 2015, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed new test methods, performance specifications and testing regulations for air emissions sources.

The proposed amendments do not impose additional requirements, but rather make technical revisions to regulations related to source testing of emissions, aiming to correct inaccuracies and update testing procedures to reflect current technology.

The EPA is principally seeking to revise test methods and procedures for air emission sources that are subject to certain testing provisions in 40 CFR 51, 60, 61, and 63 of the Clean Air Act regulations, offering regulated facilities more emission control flexibility. Any typographical errors and technical errors in equations and diagrams will also be corrected, and all test procedures updated to improve the quality of the data the EPA receives from facilities.

The EPA will accept written public comments on their proposed amendments until November 9th, 2015, with the potential of a public hearing on October 8th, 2015 subject to the EPA receiving a request for one before September 18th, 2015.
