OSHA updates its National Emphasis Program on amputations [US]

On August 13th 2015, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) updated its National Emphasis Program (NEP) on the subject of Amputations.

Established in 2006, the NEP targets workplaces with machinery and equipment that have the potential to cause amputations.

The updated NEP is based on the 2012 NAICS code and incorporates the latest data from OSHA’s Information System, its Integrated Management and Information System  and the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, allowing OSHA to use their inspection resources more efficiently. During a typical inspection, OSHA inspectors will evaluate employee exposures to amputation hazards during routine operations.

Attached below is the list of NAICS affected by the NEP.
