WorkCover New South Wales to conduct industry safety project focused on metal manufacturers [AU]

In response to a spike in machinery incidents, WorkCover NSW will institute an industry safety project focusing on high risk issues in the metal manufacturing industry. Although the focus will be on the metal manufacturing industry, many of the high risk issues that will be covered are often found in many workplaces.

Due to a spike in machinery incidents over the past 12 months, WorkCover NSW will begin an industry safety project focusing on high risk issues in the metal manufacturing industry. Some of the high risk issues that WorkCover NSW will target include machine guarding, manual handling, slips, trips and falls, and forklift safety. Although the safety project will focus on the metal manufacturing industry, these high risk issues are found in many industries, and Peter Dunphy, Acting General Manager of WorkCover NSW’s Work Health and Safety Division, cautions all employers to ensure that they have the appropriate safety measures in place to guard against these workplace hazards. Proper machine guarding is an essential safety measure that can protect workers from injuries.
