Safety and Metrology amendments with guidance"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"titre\">The Product Safety and Metrology etc. (Amendment) Regulations 2021 enter into force on 9th December 2021 with two objectives:<\/h3>\n<div class=\"intro\">\n<ul>\n \t<li>make provisions to ensure businesses have sufficient time to comply with new UK conformity assessment marking (UKCA) requirements in order to legally place products on the market in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.red-on-line-ehs.co.uk\/ehs\/2021\/03\/08\/uk-reach-regime-for-great-britain-and-northern-ireland-businesses\/\">Great Britain<\/a> (England and Wales and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.red-on-line-ehs.co.uk\/ehs\/2020\/11\/25\/uk-covid-19-recent-changes-to-coronavirus-guidance-in-scotland-and-ireland\/\">Scotland<\/a>)<\/li>\n \t<li>make necessary technical amendments to certain product safety and metrology legislation so that it works fully as intended<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<h3>The amendment Regulations:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n \t<li>extends the UK\u2019s acceptance of certain products meeting EU requirements and markings until 31 December 2022 for products placed on the market in Great Britain;<\/li>\n \t<li>extends existing easements allowing businesses to affix the UKCA marking using a label or accompanying document until 31 December 2023; and<\/li>\n \t<li>amends some provisions of specific product safety and metrology legislation, which have previously been amended following the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018, to ensure those provisions work fully as intended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>The following Regulations are amended:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n \t<li>Non-automatic Weighing Instruments Regulations 2016<\/li>\n \t<li>Measuring Instruments Regulations 2016<\/li>\n \t<li>Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008<\/li>\n \t<li>Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016<\/li>\n \t<li>Radio Equipment Regulations 2017<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nThe Office for Product Safety and Standards updated its statutory guidance on 16 November, to reflect the extension of the transition period for UKCA marking, and refers to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=celex:32019R1020\">EU Market Surveillance Regulation 2019\/1020<\/a>, which is now in force in Northern Ireland.\n<h4>The guidance
