The amendments to the Regulations are intended to strengthen Canada’s ability to meet its obligations under the Basel Convention, as well as to strengthen the implementation and improve the clarity of the Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Recyclable Material Regulations.<\/p>

The proposed amendments concern the following topics:<\/p>

Management of electrical and electronic waste;<\/p>

The ban on exporting hazardous residual materials to developing countries;<\/p>

Consideration of shipments without permits;<\/p>

Rerouting a shipment to enable a prior operation to be carried out;<\/p>
