{"id":14358,"date":"2021-11-15T17:42:43","date_gmt":"2021-11-15T16:42:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.red-on-line-ehs.co.uk\/ehs\/?p=6709"},"modified":"2025-08-20T15:28:28","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T13:28:28","slug":"covid-19-precautions-to-take-in-the-workplace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.red-on-line.com\/gb\/blog\/covid-19-precautions-to-take-in-the-workplace\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 Precautions to take in the workplace"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>  These actions can help protect staff and customers. <h3><strong><u>England:<\/u><\/strong><\/h3> <ul>   <li>Complete a health and safety risk assessment that includes the risk from <a>COVID-19<\/a><\/li>   <li>Provide adequate ventilation<\/li>   <li>Clean more often<\/li>   <li>Turn away people with <a>COVID-19<\/a> symptoms &nbsp;&#8211; employees with COVID-19 symptoms need to isolate at home, they must not attend the work place<\/li>   <li>Enable people to check in at your venue by displaying an&nbsp;<a>NHS QR code poster<\/a><\/li>   <li>Communicate and train &#8211; update your workers, contractors and visitors up-to-date on how you\u2019re using and updating safety measures<\/li> <\/ul> Full details are available in&nbsp;<a>Working safely during coronavirus (COVID-19)<\/a>&nbsp;which was updated by Department for Business, Energy &amp; Industrial Strategy and Department for Digital, Culture, Media &amp; Sport on 9th November 2021.  &nbsp; <h3><strong><u>Scotland:<\/u><\/strong><\/h3> There is&nbsp;<a>guidance<\/a>&nbsp;to support employers and employees returning to offices, which was updated on 3 November. <ul>   <li>Homeworking \u2013 business should support employees to do this<\/li>   <li>Have a&nbsp;<a>gradual return<\/a>&nbsp;to the office<\/li>   <li>Precautionary measures; continued use of face coverings, continued compliance with Test and Protect (including self-isolation when necessary), good hand and respiratory hygiene, ongoing promotion of good ventilation and outbreak management to manage and mitigate outbreaks in the workplace.<\/li>   <li>Complete refresher training on precautionary measures<\/li> <\/ul> &nbsp; <h3><strong><u>Wales:<\/u><\/strong><\/h3> <a>Guidance<\/a>&nbsp;for employers, businesses and organisations was updated on 4 November. Main points include: <ul>   <li>Complete a risk assessment of premises and activities<\/li>   <li>Self-isolate for 10 days if test is positive for <a>COVID-19<\/a><\/li>   <li>Close contacts to follow&nbsp;rules<\/li>   <li>Wear face-coverings in indoor public places<\/li> <\/ul> &nbsp; <h3><strong><u>Northern Ireland:<\/u><\/strong><\/h3> <a>Guidance<\/a>&nbsp;on staying safe at work from nidirect advises&nbsp;to work from home if possible.
