North Carolina Department of Labor Adopts Verbatim New Federal Beryllium Standard

On July 17, 2017 the North Carolina Department of Labor published notification that it has adopted multiple new federal OSHA standards. These changes will update the North Carolina Administrative Code at 13 NCAC 07 F .0101, 13 NCAC 07F .0501, and 13 NCAC 07F .0201 and will incorporate by reference the occupational safety and health related provisions of 29 CFR 1910, 1915, and 1926 promulgated on January 9, 2017. This new standard lowers the 8-hour time-weighted average (TWA) permissible exposure limit (PEL) to .2 per cub meter, sets a short-term exposure limit of 2.0 micrograms per cubic meter over a 15-minute period and establishes an action level of .1 micrograms per cubic meter as an 8-hour TWA. The effective date of this action is July 1, 2017.   Source: North Carolina Department of Labor Adopts Verbatim New Federal Beryllium Standard, North Carolina Register, Volume 32, Issue 02, Page 55.
