The guidance gives clear guidelines on assessing the potential risk if land is contaminated or could be contaminated. It centres around estimating this risk and how to manage and carry out works to remediate any contamination.

This guidance is for you if you:

  • prevent or manage any contamination of land you own
  • prevent or manage any contamination of land by law
  • advise on decisions on various land sites for others

This guidance will help:

  • assess risks and damage from contamination
  • find solutions to manage contamination with best value for money and time
  • prevent or manage contamination as a result of the assessed risks
  • check prevention and management of contamination is done properly and legally.
